The founder of the Agency, holds a master’s degree in Publishing and Editing from the University of Urbino and an undergraduate degree in Italian language and literature from the University of Tirana.

She has been the editor-in-chief of Pegi Publishing since 2013, where she has led, directed, and overseen the entire publishing process of countless titles. From the initial selection of translators all the way through putting the final finishes on the book covers. She has been actively involved in the promotion of new titles in traditional and social media as well as through direct contact with critics and readers at in-person events. Additionally, she has steered the negotiations and purchasing of rights from various literary agencies and publishing houses.

In her capacity as editor, Baro has worked in close cooperation with authors like Tom Kuka, Ndriçim Ademaj, Darien Levani, Enit Karafili Steiner, Valbona Banka, Ben Blushi, Edmond Tupja etc.

Baro began her career as a literary translator with Italo Calvino’s masterful The Baron in the Trees, published in Albanian in 2001. Other noteworthy prose translations include The Art of Joy by Goliarda Sapienza, The Truce by Primo Levi, The Drowned and the Saved by the same author, Contempt and Time of Desecration by Alberto Moravia, and La breve vita di Lukas Santana (“The Short Life of Lukas Santana”) by Elvira Dones.

In addition, Baro has translated two poetry collections from Italian into Albanian: Carne e Cielo (“Flesh and Sky”, co-translated with Edon Qesari) by Pier Paolo Pasolin, and Giuseppe Ungaretti’s Sentimento del tempo (“The Feeling of Time”). Her poetry and short story translations of major Italian authors have also appeared in Haemus Plus, Poeteka, Saras, Academia, and other literary magazines.

Aida Baro is the recipient of the 2017 National Award for Best Translation for her rendition of Primo Levi’s The Truce. This work also earned her a nomination for a Kult Award.

Her translation of Levi’s The Drowned and the Saved was awarded the Best Translation of the Year prize at the 2024 Prishtina Book Fair.

For her commitment to the propagation of Italian culture and literature, she was twice awarded a residency scholarship at the Casa delle Traduzioni in Rome.

A curious fact about Aida: nearly 1000 of her feature and documentary film translations from Italian and English have been broadcast on Albanian national television. Her portfolio includes works by Italian directors of great renown, including Pier Paolo Pasolini, Federico Fellini, Vittorio de Sica, Roberto Rossellini, and Paolo Sorrentino.
