Nitroglicerinë – Nitroglycerin

Shortlisted for the National Literature Prize, Category of Poetry, Ministry of Culture. Translated in Greek Language, published by “Eurasia” Publication, Athens 2025. This poetry collection eschews traditional forms, embracing an unconventional lexicon that intertwines medical, psychological, and psychoanalytic terminology with elements of physics, chemistry, and subtle eroticism. Despite its departure from the norm, each poem retains an intrinsic poetic essence. The recurring motif of nitroglycerin—simultaneously a life-saving medication and a potent explosive—serves as a poignant oxymoron, encapsulating the dualities explored throughout the work. Collectively, the poems coalesce into an extended metaphysical meditation on corporeal existence. Narrated in the first person, the collection draws inspiration from Hippocratic theories concerning bodily humors, establishing a cohesive thread that unites the poems through anatomical and neurological perspectives. This powerful, multifaceted exploration delves into the ancient Greek triad of body, soul, and mind, examining how maladies of the soul manifest physically through various symptoms. The depicted “disease” serves as a surreal metaphor for the existential challenges faced by contemporary individuals amidst the complexities of technological advancement and globalization.
